How NCR food businesses run, and what that means for a POS

The National Capital Region is one market but three tax states. A brand with outlets in Connaught Place, Gurugram and Noida bills under three GST states and answers to three different civic bodies, even though customers think of it as a single city.

That is why multi-outlet control is usually the main reason NCR operators move to a cloud POS: one menu to maintain, one dashboard to read, and outlet-level reports that do not need a spreadsheet to reconcile. TasteIQ's multi-outlet dashboard syncs the menu across outlets and reports each one separately.

The format mix runs from dhaba-style kitchens and mall food courts to cloud kitchens serving offices in Gurugram and Noida. For counter-led formats, billing speed and clean item-level reports matter more than a table map.

Which authority covers your NCR outlet

Delhi alone has more than one licensing body, and Gurugram and Noida sit in different states with their own. The premises address decides which one applies.

Food safetyFSSAI (FoSCoS portal)Registration or licence depends on turnover and activity. TasteIQ also offers FSSAI filing assistance.
GSTDelhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, state code 07 / 06 / 09Register on the GST portal; every invoice carries your GSTIN.

Delhi's police eating-house licence has been in flux: the Delhi Eating Houses Registration Regulations, 2023 were withdrawn in 2025, and older guides still describe the old process. Check the current position with the licensing authority and do not rely on pre-2025 checklists.

Jurisdiction follows the premises address, not the locality name, so confirm which body covers your plot before applying. Fire safety clearance and, if you serve alcohol, state excise approval are separate and depend on your building and what you sell. We do not quote fees or thresholds here because they change by notification.

State Shops & Establishments rules are being aligned with the national Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, which took effect on 21 November 2025, and states are handling the transition differently. Confirm which registration applies to your outlet.

KOT in Hindi, Punjabi or Urdu

Most NCR kitchens work in Hindi, and many have Punjabi- or Urdu-speaking cooks. TasteIQ prints kitchen order tickets in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and nine other languages, so a Gurugram kitchen can print Hindi tickets while a Noida outlet prints English.

Headings, order types and common dish terms are translated. A dish name outside the built-in vocabulary prints exactly as you typed it, so write item names in the script your kitchen reads. The language is set per outlet in KOT settings.

Where to buy receipt and kitchen printers in Delhi NCR

TasteIQ works with standard receipt and kitchen printers, so you can buy locally. Nehru Place is Delhi's largest IT and electronics hardware market, and Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh is a well-known electronics retail market.

  • Nehru Place. IT and electronics hardware wholesale and retail; the main hardware market in Delhi.
  • Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh. Electronics retail; useful for accessories and smaller purchases.

Ask for a GST invoice and a warranty card, and print a sample bill and a sample KOT before you pay.

Hardware on demand, if you want it

TasteIQ runs on the phones, tablets, PCs and printers you already own, so hardware is optional. If you would rather not source it yourself, TasteIQ can arrange billing hardware such as receipt and kitchen printers on demand in India through its partner network.

What you get for ₹8,990/yr + GST per outlet

One plan, the same in every city: ₹8,990 + GST per outlet per year, after a 14-day free trial, no card. There is no setup fee and no AMC, and no hardware you are required to buy. It runs on Android and iOS phones and tablets, plus Windows and Mac, with standard receipt and kitchen printers.

  • Split bills, modifiers, discounts and table transfers
  • Inventory deduction with low-stock alerts
  • Daily sales, item and payment-mode reports

  • AI menu setup from photos

How setup works

  1. Start the free trial. Create your outlet in the app. No card, no setup fee.
  2. Add your menu. Upload photos of your menu or type items in. AI reads items and prices; you confirm them.
  3. Connect printers and test. Pair the receipt and kitchen printers you already have and print a test bill and KOT.
  4. Go live. Train staff on real orders during the trial. Most outlets are billing in about 15 minutes.

Where TasteIQ may not be the right fit

If most of your orders arrive through Swiggy or Zomato and you depend on automatic order import, test that exact workflow in the free trial before you decide. TasteIQ records aggregator orders as their own order type so reports separate them from dine-in and takeaway.

TasteIQ is software-first and onboards remotely, over phone and WhatsApp. In India, billing hardware can be arranged on demand through its partner network. If you need one vendor to supply hardware and fit it on site as a single contract, ask what is available in your city before you decide.
