How Hyderabad food businesses run, and what that means for a POS

Hyderabad's food identity, with biryani houses, Irani chai cafés, tiffin joints and a strong late-night eating habit, means one outlet can face very different peaks in a single day: a breakfast rush, a long family lunch on weekends and a crowd that arrives after 10 pm.

Family tables make split bills and table transfers part of everyday service rather than edge cases, and biryani houses that serve dine-in, takeaway and delivery from one kitchen need those three order types reported separately so you can see which channel earns what.

TasteIQ includes split bills, modifiers, table transfers and separate dine-in, takeaway and delivery order types in the same plan, so none of this needs an add-on.

Which authority covers your Hyderabad outlet

In February 2026 the Telangana government reorganised the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three corporations, after 27 surrounding local bodies were merged into it in December 2025. Which one licenses you depends on your zone.

The reorganisation was reported in February 2026 and challenged in the High Court, so check the current status and the right office for your address before filing.

Jurisdiction follows the premises address, not the locality name, so confirm which body covers your plot before applying. Fire safety clearance and, if you serve alcohol, state excise approval are separate and depend on your building and what you sell. We do not quote fees or thresholds here because they change by notification.

State Shops & Establishments rules are being aligned with the national Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, which took effect on 21 November 2025, and states are handling the transition differently. Confirm which registration applies to your outlet.

KOT in Telugu or Urdu

Hyderabad kitchens commonly work in Telugu or Urdu, and many in Hindi. TasteIQ prints kitchen order tickets in Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and nine other languages, so a Secunderabad kitchen and a Banjara Hills counter can each print what their staff reads.

Headings, order types and common dish terms are translated. A dish name outside the built-in vocabulary prints exactly as you typed it, so write item names in the script your kitchen reads. The language is set per outlet in KOT settings.

Where to buy receipt and kitchen printers in Hyderabad

TasteIQ works with standard receipt and kitchen printers, so you can buy locally. Chenoy Trade Centre in Secunderabad is commonly cited as the city's main computer and printer hardware destination.

  • Chenoy Trade Centre, Secunderabad. Printers, laptops and storage hardware; compare quotes across several dealers.

Ask for a GST invoice and a warranty card, and print a sample bill and a sample KOT before you pay.

Hardware on demand, if you want it

TasteIQ runs on the phones, tablets, PCs and printers you already own, so hardware is optional. If you would rather not source it yourself, TasteIQ can arrange billing hardware such as receipt and kitchen printers on demand in India through its partner network.

Tell us your city and what you need on WhatsApp and we will say what is available.

Your format

Pick the setup that matches your Hyderabad outlet

Restaurants and biryani houses

Split bills, table transfers and separate dine-in, takeaway and delivery reporting.

Cafés and bakeries

Irani-chai-style counters and bakeries need quick billing and modifiers for custom orders.

Cloud kitchens

Delivery-first kitchens can log Swiggy and Zomato orders as their own order types.

What you get for ₹8,990/yr + GST per outlet

One plan, the same in every city: ₹8,990 + GST per outlet per year, after a 14-day free trial, no card. There is no setup fee and no AMC, and no hardware you are required to buy. It runs on Android and iOS phones and tablets, plus Windows and Mac, with standard receipt and kitchen printers.

  • GST-ready invoices with configurable tax rates
  • Kitchen order tickets (KOT) by station
  • Split bills, modifiers, discounts and table transfers
  • Inventory deduction with low-stock alerts
  • Daily sales, item and payment-mode reports
  • Multi-outlet dashboard with menu sync
  • Branded online ordering
  • AI menu setup from photos

How setup works

  1. Start the free trial. Create your outlet in the app. No card, no setup fee.
  2. Add your menu. Upload photos of your menu or type items in. AI reads items and prices; you confirm them.
  3. Connect printers and test. Pair the receipt and kitchen printers you already have and print a test bill and KOT.
  4. Go live. Train staff on real orders during the trial. Most outlets are billing in about 15 minutes.

Where TasteIQ may not be the right fit

If most of your orders arrive through Swiggy or Zomato and you depend on automatic order import, test that exact workflow in the free trial before you decide. TasteIQ records aggregator orders as their own order type so reports separate them from dine-in and takeaway.

TasteIQ is software-first and onboards remotely, over phone and WhatsApp. In India, billing hardware can be arranged on demand through its partner network. If you need one vendor to supply hardware and fit it on site as a single contract, ask what is available in your city before you decide.
